After more than 50 years of planning, hoping, and dreaming, the Bank Independent Stadium project at the University of North Alabama got a big step closer to fruition as members of the UNA Board of Trustees, campus administration, and Bank Independent representatives gathered Friday afternoon at the site of the on-campus stadium to break ground.

Col. Milton Looney, a University of North Alabama graduate, has provided a gift to the Disability Support Services department at UNA to name the program in honor and in tribute to his parents, Aubrey and Annie Looney. In an on-campus ceremony that took place today, Col. Looney was on hand, along with members of DSS, to make the official announcement.
Sixteen graduates were honored for outstanding achievement during the recent spring commencement ceremonies that took place at the University of North Alabama. Fifteen students received the Keller Key, and one student received the Turris Fidelis award.
Leo III, the third lion to call the University of North Alabama home, passed away peacefully on the evening of Thursday, May 2, after a brief illness at the George H. Carroll Lion Habitat on the UNA campus. He was 21.
In an ambitious move to empower the tech workforce of Florence, and for a second year, Code Alabama, which is offered by the University of North Alabama Center for Learning and Professional Development, has announced a comprehensive six-week Python training program aimed at community and business members wanting to develop a tech skill.
